JOB TITLE: Clinical Aesthetician

REPORTS TO: Clinic Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non – Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Provides aesthetic services under the supervision and direction of provider; includes suggested skin care products and treatments that will enhance patients overall outcome; training and education to patients regarding skin care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Under the supervision of physician and within the scope of training and credentialing, applies expert ability to utilize skin care equipment, tools, and professional products.
Identifies and determines patient skin care needs. Discusses recommendations with physician.
Performs all phases of skin care in a timely manner.
Performs chemical exfoliation, microdermabrasion and laser services under the supervision of a physician.
Provides training and education to patients on the treatment and care of their skin.
Under the direction of the dermatology healthcare professionals and in collaboration with the materials department, maintains inventory of skin care products appropriate for the needs of the practice.
Maintain patient records confidentially

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and managers.
Maintain work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications and equipment in a calm, effective, organized manner.
Interface with patients in a positive manner to enhance and ensure patient retention.
May process phone messages and provide follow-up to patients.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Aesthetician Program

Certifications / Licensure:

Current license and/or certification in Aesthetics as required by the State of Washington.
CPR certification

Experience:

At least three months paid work experience in a Dermatology practice/ environment preferred. One year paid work experience in a medical setting preferred.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the skin.
Medical terminology
Skin manipulation including exfoliation techniques.

Other Requirements:

Maintain current CPR. Maintain Aesthetician Certification and/or Licensure
Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing
Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, conduct and personal appearance
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.

Physical Requirements:

a. Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.

b. Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.

c. Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

d. Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care services. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift requires exposure to communicable diseases and /or bodily fluids.
