JOB TITLE: Courier
REPORTS TO: Purchasing Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for delivering, picking-up and distributing supplies and confidential information to assigned
destinations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Pick-up and deliver mail, supplies and materials, including biohazard materials, to appropriate destinations.
- Sort and deliver mail for entire clinic.
- Run errands for clinic as requested; i.e. bank runs, office and meeting supplies.
- Assist with stockroom replenishment as required. Input into computer and fill requisitions for all locations and prepare for courier runs or deliver.
- Perform related work as required.
- Document work processes and procedures as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification/Licensure:
- Must possess valid Washington state driver’s license, without restrictions, and have had no more than one (1) moving violation for preceding two years.
- May be required to provide proof of auto/liability insurance.
- Must be bondable.
Skills:
- Must be able to meet deadlines and be punctual in keeping schedules.
- Knowledge of transportation routes within the community.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to handle demands of a busy environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, staff and the general public.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
- Ability to write routine correspondence, work procedures and legibly document information.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure as required.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to perform tasks assigned with minimal errors maintaining highest quality standards.
- Willingness and ability to suggest improvements to current work processes and procedures to improve quality, customer service, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Willingness and ability to function as a team member and work effectively in-groups to address issues.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability, with or without accommodation, to perform essential requirements of the job including maintaining a valid Washington State driver’s license without restrictions.
- Sit for extended periods of time while driving and perform physical activities including stooping, bending, and occasionally lifting weights in excess of 75 pounds.
- Using a lift device, must occasionally be able to lift weights in excess of 100 pounds. Must be able to move large quantities of supplies with a hand truck.
