JOB TITLE:                               Systems Administrator

REPORTS TO:                           Information Technology Manager

EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT:        Non-Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:           Optimize Windows servers and related components to achieve high availability and

performance of the various business applications supported. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all enterprise server systems and software. Manage the company’s messaging infrastructure.                       

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  1. Participate in the design and review of Windows server systems and application deployments in both workstations and servers.
  2. Administrate all server operating systems and their corresponding or associated software.
  3. Plan and deploy software applications to servers and workstations.
  4. Support the IT Support Analysts to ensure efficient operation of the company’s desktop PCs
  5. Configure, manage and administrate Windows Exchange Server, mail clients, calendars, archives and other components of the messaging infrastructure.
  6. Perform file system and database configuration and management.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems of all Windows servers.
  8. Ensure that Windows-based workstations and servers comply with established policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
  9. Perform and verify system backups and recovery procedures to ensure full data retrieval.
  10. Distribute, monitor, and maintain server storage space allotments.
  11. Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  12. Provide a base level of support of data switches and network connections.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  2. Document work processes as required.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

  1. Associates is Science degree and 2 years relevant work experience or B.A./B.S. degree in computer science or related field and 1 year relevant work experience
  2. Minimum two (2) years technical experience in enterprise server environment.
  3. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Server 2003.
  4. Experience in Active Directory migration, setup, and implementation.
  5. Experience with design and implementation of Microsoft Exchange.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
  2. Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
  4. Good written and oral communication skills.
  5. Ability to conduct research into Windows issues and products as required.
  6. Specific knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Server 2000, and Exchange required.
  7. Working technical knowledge of Group Policy, Software Distribution, and Windows Profiles.
  8. Strong familiarity with DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP networking.
  9. Knowledge of networking concepts in both LAN and WAN environments
  10. Ability to move or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  11. Ability to crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel to service computers and associated equipment.

 

Licenses, Certification and Special Requirements:

  1. MCP certification preferred.
  2. Valid Washington State Driver’s License and good driving record.
  3. On-call availability after hours and weekends for approximately 10 days per month..
