| JOB OVERVIEW: |
Operates nuclear medicine scanner to produce images of patients body for diagnostic purposes
|
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Perform nuclear medicine procedures at a technologist level in accordance with protocols.
2. Maintain proper quality control procedures.
3. Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to Nuclear Medicine exams and equipment.
4. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, medical staff and the public.
5. Knowledge of concepts, standards, procedures and equipment.
6. Must be able to work extended hours when necessary.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain a safe and appropriate work area. Maintain inventory of supplies.
2. Adhere to employer work practices as described in TDC Occupational Exposure Plan policy.
3. Knowledge of basic patient care and activities that may be necessary during exam.
4. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
5. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
6. Work as a team member within the imaging department and all other departments.
7. Document work processes as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of an accredited Radiology program required
Certification/Licensure:
1. National registration with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (AART) OR,
2. Nuclear Medicine technologist Certifying Board (NMTCB)
3. Current CPR Certification
Experience:
Minimum one (1) years experience in Nuclear Medicine.
Skills:
1. Ability to properly position patients to provide quality imaging.
2. Ability to work independently.
3. Complete understanding of Nuclear Medicine applications.
4. Ability to operate equipment.
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management and peers.
6. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people.
7. Excellent telephone skills.
Other Requirements:
1. Knowledge of current medical terminology.
2. Knowledge of imaging techniques to perform routine tests.
3. Knowledge of imaging equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
4. Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
6. Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
7. Maintain current CPR.
Physicial Requirements:
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision: Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Requires normal color perception.
Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of all department equipment. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
