JOB TITLE:          Recruiting Specialist                                                                         

REPORTS TO:      Director, Human Resources                                                                

FLSA STATUS:     Non-Exempt

JOB OVERVIEW:Responsible for total recruitment process and retention strategies Additional human resources related responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas:  recruitment and retention, policies and standards, employee relations, training, and employment law. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

1.           Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems. 

2.           Responsible for total recruitment process of non-provider personnel, students, and temporary employees;

              includes job fair participation, advertising, contact with employment agencies, colleges and technical schools

             and other sourcing. 

3.           Identifies and analyzes trends.  Recommends changes in recruitment/retention strategies. 

4.           Screens, interviews and recommends candidates to management personnel based on established criteria. 

5.           Performs periodic turnover analysis.  Identifies retention problems and recommends solutions.    

6.           Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of

              department and services performed. 

7.           Works with other members of the HR team to design and/or facilitate for implementation employee

              orientation and other training as assigned. 

8.           Handles exit interviewing and reporting of results.  Recommends corrective action and continuous

              improvement. 

9.           Works to maintain compliance with federal and state regulations in employment practices. 

10.          Assists managers with counseling, coaching and discipline. 

11.          Participates in mediation between union(s), employees and managers. 

12.          Provides cross coverage for other HR functions as needed. 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.           Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

2.           Document work processes as required.

3.           Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:    

         Bachelor’s degree Human Resources Management or related field OR 

       5 years progressively responsible HR experience or combination of education and experience.                                                                             

Experience:  As above.  One year HR work and health care experience preferred but not required. 

 

Skills:

1.           Ability to objectively coach employees and management through difficult issues. 

2.           Ability to organize and prioritize work. 

3.           Ability to research and analyze various different types of data. 

4.           Ability to make recommendation to effectively resolve problems or issues, using judgment that is consistent

              with standards, policies, regulations and employment law. 

5.           Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

6.           Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.

7.           Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,

              customers and physicians.

 

Other Requirements:

1.    Must convey a professional demeanor.

2..   Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.

3.    Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.

4.    Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality

       and personal appearance.

5..    Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.

 

Physical Requirements:

Hearing:  Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.

Speaking:  Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.

Vision:  Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.                                                   

Other:  Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.  Requires manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual responsibilities.
